A group of four Andun Engineering Consultants (AEC) engineers based across our Chelmsford and Midlands offices have teamed up to reach the final of MERIT 2020.

Team AEC have made it to the finals by fending off competition from 70 other teams from around the world, including teams from some of the largest construction companies in the world.

They now go on to the finals, which due to Covid19 will be held remotely.

MERIT 2020 Competition Details

The MERIT game competition is an annual event open to construction professionals across the world and is designed to develop and test participants’ business knowledge and adaptability.

The competition consists of a computer-based simulation where a team of engineers act as the board of directors for a virtual construction company.

This year the game was set up to model a construction industry operating in an economy emerging from a recession with up to date bank interest rates and charges and current corporation tax.

Learning to survive as a construction business in tough market conditions with fierce competition.

The aim was over 8 rounds to make the decisions to build up the company’s profitability and share price over the course of 2 virtual years.

This aspect seems even more apt than ever given the impact Covid19 is having on the construction industry.

During the final the skills gained to date will be put to the test over a further 8 rounds of virtual competition and a winner will be crowned.
